Rotary machining technology is the foundation of the Roland DG CAMM-2 and CAMM-3 product families that have evolved into today's Decorating and Modeling solutions. This technology uses a spindle that rotates a tool at high velocity to remove material from a solid block of wax, plastic, foam, wood, and some soft metals. We call this process Subtractive Rapid Prototyping, or SRP.

Using a semiconductor laser, combined with our revolutionary motion control firmware, our laser decoration technology transfers metallic foil to promotional products which can be very difficult with conventional hot-foil stamping technology. The laser focuses heat to activate the adhesive on these foils, only in the areas needed, to decorate logos and text on a variety of different materials.
Using a diamond tipped stylus powered by an electric solenoid (oscillator) and our revolutionary motion control firmware, our Metaza photo impact printer converts raster and vector images into impact dots that simulate dot matrix printing. This can create images up to 529 DPI to re-create high quality photographs on precious metals. The vector technology simulates a diamond drag scribing process that can be used for industrial marking of serialized identification tags and 2D barcodes for Unique Device Identification (UDI) of medical devices.
DGSHAPE adopts the Digital Light Projection (DLP) method of additive manufacturing technology. This unique technology can reproduce high quality three-dimensional objects whose shape and resolution could be difficult to realize by the most specialized milling.
The process involves curing photopolymer liquid resins into solid form using ultraviolet light through a proprietary lens technology and LED lamps. Primarily used for Digital Denture applications, DLP technology can also be used for many other dental applications including surgical guides and models.
Roland DG, the parent company of DGSHAPE, adopted its own cell production system "D-Shop". Using a paperless digital process on computer monitors at their workstation, factory workers select parts that are automatically supplied from a rotary rack and perform assembly using specifically selected hand tools.
